Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive technique that triggers the body’s own healing process to produce more collagen and elastin and enhance cell turnover for younger-looking skin. 

Microneedling is used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, and scars to reveal firmer, smoother skin and more even skin tone.

 

Microneedling also allows for greater absorption and effectiveness of skincare products (such as plumping hyaluronic acid), up to 3000% in the research.

Microneedling creates extremely tiny “micro-traumas” in the skin which triggers a natural healing response.

 

The healing response includes increased circulation (blood flow) as well as bringing proteins to “restructure” the area, which happen to be collagen and elastin.

Patients age 70 and above should plan for five to six microneedling treatments. 

 

Treatments are always spaced a month apart to give skin cell turnover time to complete before the next treatment.
