Do you take insurance at Seneca Falls Acupuncture, What is a Superbill, and More Payment FAQs.

Payment, Insurance, and Superbills at Seneca Falls Acupuncture:

At Seneca Falls Acupuncture, we are a private-pay clinic. This means we do not bill insurance directly.

However, if your insurance plan includes out-of-network acupuncture benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement.

In that case, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.

Below is everything you need to know about insurance and superbills at our clinic.

Do You Take Insurance?

No. We are out-of-network with all insurance providers and do not bill health insurance directly.

Payment for services is due at the time of your appointment.

However, if you have insurance with out-of-network acupuncture benefits, you may be able to submit for reimbursement after your acupuncture visit using a superbill.

Please note that we do not accept:

  • – No-fault auto insurance
  • – Workers’ compensation coverage
  • – And we cannot offer a superbill for these types of coverage

What Is a Superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt specifically for insurance companies. It includes all the information your insurance company needs to review an out-of-network claim, such as diagnosis codes and treatment information.

It does not guarantee reimbursement, but it provides proper documentation for your insurance to evaluate your request.

You submit the superbill directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Does a Superbill Guarantee Reimbursement?

No. Reimbursement depends entirely on your individual plan.

Some insurance plans:

  • – Reimburse for acupuncture performed by licensed acupuncturists
  • – Reimburse only when provided by MDs or acupuncturists working under the supervision of an MD (this is common with Medicare)
  • – Do not cover acupuncture at all
  • – Apply the visit to your deductible first

Every plan is different. We are not able to verify benefits or guarantee reimbursement, so we highly recommend calling your insurance provider before your first important to ask the important questions below.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company:

We recommend calling your insurance company before scheduling and asking:

  • – Do I have out-of-network acupuncture benefits?
  • – How many acupuncture treatments are covered per year?
  • – What is my acupuncture-specific copay? (It may be different than other specialists.)
  • – [Knowing your copay would allow you to calculate, based on what we charge, how much you would be reimbursed per treatment.]
  • – If your plan has a deductible: Do I need to meet my deductible before I am eligible for reimbursement?
  • – Are only certain conditions covered?

– How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

How Does Superbill Reimbursement Work?

If you are eligible for reimbursement based on your insurance plan, typically reimbursement looks like this:

Our cost of treatment ($70) – Your acupuncture copay (for example, $40) = How much you’ll be reimbursed (in this example, $30)

Insurance companies usually reimburse a portion of the cost of the treatment, not the whole treatment cost. In essence, after your reimbursement, you are paying your acupuncture co-pay amount.

HSA/FSA Information:

We accept payments from HSA (Health Savings Accounts) or FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) to pay for your  acupuncture treatment. These are good options as they allow you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for your healthcare, and acupuncture falls under this umbrella.

Not every insurance plan has an HSA or FSA. Check with your plan administrator for details.
