Acupuncture for Menopause Symptoms in Seneca Falls, NY, including hot flashes and night sweats

Acupuncture for Menopause

If you’re experiencing changes in sleep, temperature regulation, mood, and overall energy, we’re here to help.

At Seneca Falls Acupuncture, we work with women who want support during this phase, not just to manage symptoms, but to feel steady, clear, and comfortable in their bodies again.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), menopause is called the “Second Spring” and is considered a positive, empowering transition marking a shift toward renewal of energy, wisdom, and time for self-nourishment. We are thrilled to support you in this phase.

Common Menopause Symptoms We See

Many of our patients share that while the hormonal fluctuations of perimenopause have settled, they still don’t feel quite like themselves.

Menopause can still bring ongoing or lingering symptoms, including:

  • – Hot flashes and night sweats
  • – Sleep disruption or early waking
  • – Anxiety or low mood
  • – Brain fog or reduced focus
  • – Joint stiffness or body aches
  • – Fatigue or low energy
  • – Weight changes or slower metabolism

Our goal is to help you find relief so you can feel more grounded and supported.

How Does Acupuncture Help with Menopause Symptoms? Is There Any Research Supporting It?

Acupuncture is thought to help reduce menopause symptoms by regulating:

  • – Hormone levels
  • – The nervous system

Yes, there is excellent research supporting the use of acupuncture in reducing vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats).

In a 2017 study of 209 women published in the journal Menopause, acupuncture significantly reduce the frequency of hot flashes and night sweats. They found a 36.7% reduction in hot flashes after acupuncture, vs. only 6% reduction in the control group.

The researchers concluded that, “a course of acupuncture treatments was associated with significant reduction in vasomotor symptoms [hot flashes and night sweats], as well as several quality of life measures, compared with no acupuncture, and that clinical benefit persisted for at least 6 months beyond the end of treatment.”

What to Expect from Treatment

Your first visit includes a detailed consultation to understand your symptoms, health history, and goals.

New patient appointments are 60-90 minutes and include both discussion and treatment. Follow-up visits are typically 60 minutes.

Acupuncture is cumulative. The general recommendation is to start with one treatment per week for 6-8 weeks, then try to space treatments apart (2, 3, then 4 weeks) while still maintaining good results.

Many menopause patients choose to come in for monthly maintenance treatments to continue feeling their best.

Our Approach to Menopause Care

We take a whole-person, thoughtful approach to every treatment.

This includes:

  • – Looking beyond symptoms to understand the full picture
  • – Supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing
  • – Considering sleep, stress, lifestyle, and long-term health
  • – Creating individualized treatment plans
  • – Collaborating with other healthcare providers when helpful

As mentioned above, in TCM, menopause is a positive transition into a new phase of life that makes space for you to pursue your interests and live a full and joyful life.
