Acupuncture for natural relief of perimenopause symptoms in Seneca Falls, NY

Acupuncture for Perimenopause

What is perimenopause?

Perimenopause is a natural transition that can last several years as hormone levels shift. For many women, this period brings symptoms that affect sleep, mood, energy, and overall wellbeing. Acupuncture offers a gentle, holistic approach to supporting your health during this phase.

At Seneca Falls Acupuncture, we work with women every week who are navigating perimenopause and looking for natural ways to feel more balanced and resilient.

Common Perimenopause Symptoms We See:

Perimenopause can look and feel different for every woman. Common symptoms include:

  • – Hot flashes and night sweats
  • – Sleep disruption or insomnia
  • – Mood changes and irritability
  • – Anxiety or increased stress
  • – Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
  • – Irregular menstrual cycles
  • – Spotting between cycles
  • – Headaches or migraines
  • – Joint or muscle pain
  • – Fatigue and low energy
  • – Changes in skin or hair

Many patients share that they “don’t feel like themselves anymore” and that’s a frustrating experience. Our goal is to provide care that supports your body and mind so you can get back to feeling like yourself.

How Acupuncture May Support Perimenopause Symptoms:

Acupuncture is holistic and encourages the body to regulate itself again. While every person is different, acupuncture may help support:

  • – Nervous system regulation and stress relief
  • – Vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes
  • – Sleep quality and relaxation
  • – Mood, anxiety, and emotional wellbeing
  • – Hormonal and cycle transitions
  • – Pain and inflammation

Acupuncture can be used on its own or alongside care from your OB/GYN, primary care provider, or other specialists.

What to Expect from Treatment:

Your first visit includes a detailed consultation to understand your symptoms, health history, goals, and any medications or treatments you’re using. This helps us create a personalized treatment plan for you.

New patient appointments last 90 minutes and include time for discussion, acupuncture, and relaxation. Follow-ups are recommended, and typically last 60 minutes.

Many patients begin with weekly sessions for 6–8 weeks, followed by a reassessment to track progress and adjust frequency as needed.

Some women notice changes within a few sessions, while others experience gradual improvements over the 6-8 week timeframe. Every experience is unique.

Our Approach to Women’s Health:

We take a whole-person, evidence-informed approach to care. This includes:

  • – Supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing
  • – Considering stress, sleep, work, lifestyle, and cycle patterns
  • – Creating individualized treatment plans
  • – Collaborating with other healthcare providers when needed

Perimenopause doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. In Chinese medicine, perimenopause and menopause are considered a “second spring” for women. It’s a time of flourishing, when your unique wisdom and life experience are valued, and your health and wellbeing are supported.
