At Seneca Falls Acupuncture, we help you feel your best with gentle, effective acupuncture in Seneca Falls, NY, tailored to your health goals. Acupuncture offers a natural and time-tested approach for pain management, women’s health concerns, digestive symptoms, anxiety and stress management, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

How Acupuncture Works:

Acupuncture gently stimulates specific points on the body to encourage blood flow, release muscle knots and tension, and support your body’s natural healing response.

Modern research suggests that acupuncture may help regulate the nervous system, improve blood flow, balance hormones, improve the way the brain responds to pain, and reduce inflammation—factors that play a key role in pain relief, stress reduction, and overall wellness.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, acupuncture helps restore balance by supporting the smooth flow of energy (called Qi) throughout the body. When things are in balance, you feel healthier, calmer, and more resilient.

Conditions We Support:

We provide acupuncture in Seneca Falls for a wide range of conditions, including:

What to Expect:

Your first visit will be 60 to 90 minutes depending on your provider. It includes a full intake and treatment. In your initial intake, we’ll discuss your health goals, concerns, and what you hope to achieve with acupuncture. Then you’ll receive your first treatment, with plenty of time to ask questions so you feel comfortable every step of the way.

During each session, thin, single-use, disposable, sterile needles are placed at specific points on your body based on your symptoms and treatment plan.

Once the needles are in, you’ll rest in a comfortable, quiet room. Some patients like to be checked on, while others prefer to simply relax or nap without interruption—we’ll tailor the experience to your preference.

Follow-up visits focus on continuing your treatment plan and adjusting as needed based on your progress and goals. Most patients find acupuncture sessions deeply relaxing and look forward to the peaceful pause they bring to a busy week.

What to Wear to Acupuncture Treatment:

Please wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to your knees and elbows. There are important points in these areas that are used for a variety of symptoms and conditions.

How Many Acupuncture Treatments are Needed?

For most symptoms and conditions, the recommended treatment protocol is one treatment per week for eight weeks. After this, we’ll reevaluate your symptoms and progress. If you’re feeling good, we usually begin trying to space appointments out, perhaps every two weeks, then three, then four. The goal is to gradually reduce your treatment frequency while maintaining your good results.

Many patients go on a monthly maintenance schedule of one treatment per month to prevent their symptoms from returning or flaring up. We always say that it’s easier to maintain feeling good than it is to let it go, have a bad flare up, and have to “start over” from the beginning.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is very gentle. The needles are extremely thin – the width of a human hair. Most points do not feel like anything when they are inserted. Occasionally you may feel a slight pinch, but this should be very temporary. Overall, patients should feel comfortable enough to take a nap. This is extremely common at our office.

What conditions can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture helps with a wide variety of symptoms and conditions. At our office we commonly see patients for:

  • – Pain of all kinds (including headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, joint pain, etc.)
  • – Women’s health (PMS, period pain, hot flashes, fertility, pregnancy and post-partum support)
  • – Digestive concerns (bloating, abdominal pain or discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, IBS, Crohn’s, diverticula, etc.)
  • – Urinary issues (interstitial cystitis, urinary urgency, frequent UTIs, frequent urination)
  • – Anxiety, ADHD, feelings of overwhelm/high stress
  • – Cosmetic concerns (fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne and acne scarring)

How should I prepare for my first acupuncture appointment?

Please fill out your paperwork online before your arrival. You should receive an email with a link to complete your documents online. If you don’t have online access, you can arrive early and complete your paperwork in person.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and eat something before your appointment, to avoid getting treatment on an empty stomach. A snack 1-2 hours beforehand is fine.

Are there any side effects after acupuncture?

Research consistently shows that acupuncture very safe with few side effects. We always joke that side effects of treatment include less stress, better sleep, and better digestion. You may get a drop of blood or two when needles are removed, but this is generally very minimal. Occasionally acupuncture may cause small bruises on the skin but these are not cause for concern.

Can I combine acupuncture with other treatments or medications?

Yes, acupuncture is generally very safe to combine with other treatments. Acupuncture pairs very well with chiropractic, massage, physical therapy, yoga, Reiki, etc.

You should continue all your recommended prescription medications while you are getting acupuncture unless you discuss with your physician first – there is no need to change your medications for acupuncture treatments.

How long is each acupuncture session?

New patient appointments are 60-90 minutes depending on your provider. When you book, you will be able to see the length of your first appointment. Follow up treatments are 60 minutes.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Yes, acupuncture is safe during pregnancy. In fact, one of our acupuncturists, Melody Osgood, is a doula and specializes in the treatment of pregnant and post-partum patients.

Acupuncture is especially helpful during pregnancy for morning sickness, acid reflux, constipation, carpal tunnel, and pain. As you know, it’s not recommended to take common OTC medications during pregnancy, and acupuncture can be very helpful in reducing and managing your symptoms during this time.

What if I’m nervous about the needles?

We understand! Needles are not everyone’s favorite. We find that acupuncture needles are not at all what most people are imagining. They are nothing like hypodermic needles used to draw blood or give shots. They are MUCH smaller and gentler.

We have had many patients come to us who initially had a fear of needles. We do everything we can to make you feel safe and comfortable. You do not have to look at the needles. We can do a facedown treatment if you would like to avoid seeing them entirely. And we answer all your questions as we go through the treatment.
